Biking to Bath: A Scenic Route

Starting your biking adventure at Sun Retreats Hay Bay? Here's how to reach the charming town of Bath:

  1. Begin on S Shore Rd outside the park and head northeast until you reach County Road 8.
  2. Turn left and follow County Road 8 until you intersect with County Road 21.
  3. Turn right and continue on County Road 21 to County Road 33 (Loyalist Pkwy).
  4. Turn left and follow County Road 33 along the shore for 8 kilometers until you reach Bath.

This scenic route is approximately 18.7 kilometers and takes just under an hour to bike at a steady pace. Along the way, enjoy picturesque views of the countryside and nearby lakes, and don't forget to explore the quaint town of Bath once you arrive!

Fairfield-Gutzeit House and 1812 Discovery Centre

Bath may be small, but it's packed with history. One must-visit is the Fairfield-Gutzeit House, built in 1796. Although currently closed for renovation, this historic site offers insights into early 19th-century life in Ontario.

Adjacent to the house, the Lafarge War of 1812 Discovery Centre provides an engaging account of Bath's history, focusing on significant local events, including the American attack during the War of 1812.
