Can I Hike with My Dog?

There's nothing better than hiking in the great outdoors. Except hiking with your pet! While fun, it brings in a new set of challenges and opportunities. To help you out, we've compiled a list of important things to consider when taking your dog on a hike.

The first step is to plan where you're going to go. You need to find a destination that allows pets, along with a pet-friendly place to stay. Fortunately for you, many of our resorts are pet-friendly, with dedicated dog parks. At some resorts, like Sun Outdoors Ocean City, you'll even find a dedicated dog beach.

Once you've found a place to go, start checking off the steps listed in the infographic below. Some important considerations include food and water, flea and tick prevention, and making sure your pet has ID. If you have questions, schedule a checkup with your vet before your trip. They'll be most qualified to answer specific questions about your pet before you go hiking. Your vet can also make sure that your pet is up to date on important shots and medications.

If you and/or your dog can't hike most of our resorts have dog parks and play areas for your furry friend. Some locations even have a dog wash!
