Easy Fall Crafts for Kids: Fun Autumn Activities

When the air turns crisp and the leaves change color, it's the perfect time to embrace the beauty of fall! These easy fall crafts for kids are a great way to celebrate autumn and create lasting memories. Let's dive into some fun and simple projects that kids will love!

Pressed Fall Leaves: A Timeless Craft

One of the most beloved fall crafts is pressing autumn leaves. Here are two easy methods to preserve those vibrant colors:

Pressing Leaves with Weight

This simple method requires minimal materials:

  1. Gather flat, semi-dry leaves.
  2. Sandwich them between sheets of newspaper.
  3. Place heavy objects, like books, on top.
  4. Let them press for about a week. Full drying may take 2-3 weeks.

Pressing Leaves with Waxed Paper

For a more durable option, you'll need parental supervision for this method:

  1. Sandwich thin, semi-dry leaves between two sheets of waxed paper.
  2. Place a cloth rag on your ironing board to protect it.
  3. Lay the leaves with wax paper on top of the rag, covering with another rag.
  4. Heat the iron on high (no steam) and run it over the cloth, sealing the wax paper. Hold the iron on each spot for 4-5 seconds.
  5. Once cooled, cut out the leaves with a little wax seal around the edges.
Pumpkin Vase

Pumpkin Flower Vase: A Festive Touch

Show off your fall flowers by transforming a pumpkin into a beautiful vase. Here's how:

  1. Carve and clean out a pumpkin.
  2. Either find a vase that fits inside or use soaked green floral foam cut to size.
  3. Fill the vase with water or place the foam inside the pumpkin.
  4. Trim flower stems and create your arrangement!

Leaf Silhouettes: Colorful Finger Painting Fun

Engage your kids with finger painting to create beautiful leaf silhouettes:

  1. Print out a leaf silhouette template.
  2. Drop various colors of paint on the paper and let kids use their fingers to mix and spread the paint.
  3. Once dry, cut out the leaf shape for a colorful decoration!
Paper Pumpkin Fall Crafts

Paper Pumpkins: A Decorative Delight

These paper pumpkins are a bit more intricate but yield wonderful results:

  1. Get two bright orange 8.5 x 11-inch pieces of paper.
  2. Cut each piece into five 1.5-inch wide strips.
  3. Cut the strips into one 7-inch long, two 9-inch long, and two 11-inch long pieces (repeat for the second pumpkin).
  4. Fold each piece into accordion strips and tape them together with double-sided tape to form circles.
  5. Glue the medallions together, starting with the smallest circle on top and layering down.
  6. For extra flair, add a stick, paper leaves, and twine on top!
