Refreshing Summer: 3 Delicious Fruit Slush Recipes

When the summer heat strikes, staying cool can be a challenge. Instead of retreating indoors with the air conditioning, why not enjoy the great outdoors with a refreshing drink in hand? This summer, stay cool with these three delicious fruit slush recipes made from fresh fruit and juices—perfect for any vacation or outdoor gathering!

1. Watermelon Slush

This watermelon slush recipe is delightfully simple and refreshing. With watermelon's natural juiciness, there's no need for added juice or sugar—making it a healthy choice for summer!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, preferably seedless
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut the watermelon into small pieces.
  2. Freeze the watermelon pieces for an iced slush (optional).
  3. Combine frozen watermelon, lime juice, and sugar in a blender.
  4. Blend on high until smooth.
Peach Slush Recipe

2. Peach Slush

For a sweeter option, try this peach slush. While it requires a bit more preparation than the watermelon slush, the effort is well worth it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 fresh peaches
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice

Directions:

  1. Peel the peaches using a paring knife or by blanching in boiling water for 30 seconds.
  2. Chop peaches into chunks and place in a blender.
  3. Add water and lime juice, then blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the peach puree into a 9x13 pan and freeze for 1-2 hours, stirring several times to avoid solid freezing.
  5. Once frozen, stir and whip with a fork for a slushy consistency. Serve immediately.
Sunrise Fruit Slush Recipe

3. Tropical Sunrise Slush

Transport yourself to paradise with this sunrise slush recipe. Made with a delightful blend of orange, lemon, and pineapple juices, it's perfect for parties and gatherings!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar (or less, if preferred)
  • 2 cans frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1 can frozen lemonade
  • 46 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7-Up)
  • Vodka or rum (optional, for frozen cocktails)

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the frozen orange juice concentrate, frozen lemonade, and pineapple juice.
  3. Freeze the mixture in a large container (like an ice cream bucket) for at least 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. To serve, scoop one or two servings into a glass and top with lemon-lime soda, leaving room for an ounce of vodka or rum if desired.
