Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Day at Sun Outdoors

They've served our nation faithfully and sacrificed to preserve, protect, and uphold the freedoms we enjoy every day. On Veterans Day, we have the opportunity to pay it forward and thank our heroes for their service.

Paying It Forward at Sun Outdoors

At Sun, we value our military veterans and express our gratitude in various ways. As a provider of housing and outdoor hospitality, we proudly welcome veterans into our communities and resorts, as well as our team! Many of our year-round resorts host special programs on Veterans Day, featuring activities such as golf cart parades, community dinners, and guest speakers from organizations like the Veterans Administration.

Veterans can also enjoy special savings with the Sun Military Discount, which offers exclusive rates for military camping and vacation rentals.

To honor our valued team members who have served, Sun makes charitable donations to organizations like Homes for Our Troops on their behalf. In addition to these contributions, they receive a small token of appreciation on Veterans Day.

Why November 11?

As many know, our nation officially celebrates Veterans Day on November 11 each year. The historical significance of this date lies in the armistice signed in 1918 during World War I, known as "the war to end all wars." This armistice marked a formal ceasefire that ended fighting in the war, although the war itself continued for some time.

This famous ceasefire, signed on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, is why we honor Veterans Day on November 11.

We hope you have a safe and happy Veterans Day!
