The National Association of RV Park & Campgrounds honors Sun Outdoors twice during the 2022 Awards of Excellence

Two of our Sun Outdoors resorts received awards from ARVC at the 2022 Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (OHCE) on Wednesday, November 9, in Orlando Florida. During their 2022 Awards of Excellence luncheon event, Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains was awarded National Park of the Year (Large) and Sun Retreats Avalon was awarded the Plan-It Green Friendly Park of the Year (Large/Mega).

Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains, formerly known as River Run RV Resort, is located in Granby, Colorado, and stands out in offering resort-style amenities alongside breathtaking adventures to a wide range of guests. The destination offers a peaceful retreat for outdoors family getaways through RV and tent camping, plus cabin and cottage rentals. Sun Retreats Avalon demonstrates a commitment to the Plan-It program mission by implementing environmentally friendly and sustainable practices on-site, as well as providing educational programming focused on conservation, wildlife preservation, and nature education. Unique on-site offerings include partnerships with Cape May County Zoo; The Wetlands Institute, a local butterfly expert; the Cape May County Fire Department; and more to help provide education to guests and team members.

Sun Outdoors also had finalists in two other award categories with Sun Outdoors Coos Bay (Oregon) nominated for National Park of the Year (Small) and Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach (S.C.) for National Park of the Year (Mega). 

ARVC is the only national association dedicated to representing the interests of private RV parks and campgrounds in the United States and Canada. The awards are based on numerous criteria, which include, among others, park ratings by Good Sam, AAA or qualified business ratings, overall park appearance, as well as involvement with ARVC and other related associations.
